Lightcraft – Losing Northern Lights

Gloomy weather and the smooth traffic made listening to Lightcrafts debut album, Losing Northern Lights, on my way to work this morning more enjoyable. This album has been in my posession for a few months, listened to it a couple of times but only had the strength to write about it today. Losing Northern Lights is not my everyday average listen to album as the band plays melancholy, ambient, rock music. I’m not against those kind of sound, but I need to be in the right mood to understand and appreciate it, like the current mood I am in now. Most of the tracks are oh so dreamy that I can almost be drifted to an uninterrupted stillness state of mind but I can’t quite get there because the vocals sort of block the way. The sound is already strong and I feel that there is too much vocal going on that it interrupts my feel for the sound. Its pretty obvious that when I mention melancholy, you guys can already guess that the lyrics mostly center on lost love and the hope they have for a certain person. It’s not common to find this kind of record in our local scene, so I suggest you guys give it a listen. It’s far away from what you hear on the so called radio station that supports local music.

Mirage, Perfect Singalong When Stuck In Traffic

So it was drizzling and the traffic was so bad today on my way back from teh tarik session with a friend after work. Don’t know why but I decided to listen to the radio and I got so excited when one of the stations played the song that made Pesawat famous, Mirage. I haven’t listened to this song for quite a long time that I got so psyched and started singing along to it (more like just shouting the lyrics) with all my heart. After that song, I couldn’t find any other songs that caught my interest. Daaang.

P/s: I actually really like this song.
